I am a happy, positive person, and I thrive when I am around the same. I am easy-going and easy to please. I believe that loyalty, integrity, trust, honesty and communication are essential to any relationship.
I am looking to spend time with someone who is both mentally and emotionally intelligent, open-minded, liberal politically, has good friends, a big kind heart, a great sense of humor, and is responsible and secure financially. I'm looking to meet someone who already has a good life but knows it can be even better when shared with that one special person.
I am most comfortable in jeans and tee shirts but have been known to wear a tux on special occasions. I like to stay active through biking, hiking, skiing, camping, swimming, or just about anything outdoors. I enjoy spending time with my kids (my son and his wife are in town while my daughter and her husband and their son and daughter are on the west coast), hanging out with friends, or just staying home watching some movie like “Green Book”.
I was born with the speed gene and love doing anything that satisfies that need. I like to make a few trips out west each winter to downhill ski. My new favorite place to ski is Whistler, BC. Once the winter ski season is over, I like to be out on the lake water skiing or on one of my bikes (mountain and road). I spend my summers at my cottage skiing, swimming, windsurfing, biking, watching sunsets, and walking in the woods.
Life is a balance and while I look for ways to satisfy my need for speed I also enjoy going slow. In 2018 I spent 46 days hiking 879 miles following the 88-Temple Buddhist pilgrimage in Shikoku, Japan. While I am not a practicing Buddhist, I do identify with much of the practices.
I listen to a wide variety of music from 60’s folk music to Pink. But I am most partial to rock and roll. My first concert was the Monkees. I have been to many since that first show. Most recently I saw Blues Travelers at the Sylvee.
I enjoy live theater especially a good drama. But I have also been to many musicals and operas as well as several ballets. Most recently I saw the Pacific Northwest Ballet perform “Sleeping Beauty” in Seattle.
I am enjoying my third major career in my life as a freelance sports photographer. Working freelance lets me choose when I want to work and when I want to play. When I am not shooting a Badgers or Brewers game, I enjoy watching sports on tv or in person. My previous careers were project engineer for 12 years and high school math teacher for 20 years.
Although I am no Fred Astaire, I know how to lead out on the dance floor. Be it a fox trot, waltz, swing, or polka (who in Wisconsin doesn’t know how to polka) I can lead you around without stepping on your toes.
Growing up in Madison, my politics lean left. I volunteered for George McGovern when I was a freshman in high school as well as Paul Soglin’s first successful campaign for mayor. Over the years my activism has mostly been dormant, but I did get an official reprimand from the school district for being absent to protest at the capitol against Act 10.
